Mp3 Slave is a simple and light MP3 player that includes interesting features. It is capable of creating playlists and it includes several dancer animations that you can switch on or off very easily.
Despite its simplicity, this program might turn out to be a bit difficult to understand and use for many people. For starters, the program does not include the standard minimize, maximize or close buttons (or a menu bar), and it was designed to stay "always on top", which may be a drawback in some situations. It does not even appear on the task bar.
All the commands and actions you can carry out with this program are accessible through a pop-up menu that you can open by right-clicking on any part of the user interface. This menu allows you to reduce the interface to a "Music Bar" (the area that contains the playing controls), to set the playing volume, to toggle the view between the dancer animation and the playlist, and add new MP3 files to your playlist, among others. Note that you will be allowed to close the program exclusively through this menu.
In conclusion, even though this program is simple and allows you to activate the dancer animations (which are generally very funny), it might present some problems related to its usage. In addition, despite the echo effect was introduced to simulate an "enhanced" sound, it can make some songs sound really strange.
Pros
- Allows you to create playlists
- Allows you to see several dancing animations that turn out to be very funny
- You can minimize it to the "Music Bar" area
Cons
- Stays always on top
- Does not include a standard user interface
- The echo effect can make some songs sound really strange
I don't see any dancers available.
As the publisher, I can say v 2.0 has just been released at blackhatsoftware.com. The good news is the echo effect and dancers have been removed. Also, a few internet radio stations have been added.
